Mimecast Appoints Vishak Raman to Lead Regional Expansion

Mimecast has appointed Vishak Raman as Senior Vice President of Sales, International. Raman will drive Mimecast’s expansion across the Middle East, Africa, India and APAC, helping more organisations in these markets protect their people, data and work with the Mimecast platform.

Raman joins from Fortinet, where he was most recently Vice President of Sales for Asia, leading a team of more than 800. Before that, he built Fortinet’s India and South Asia business, including a technical assistance centre in Bangalore that grew to more than 200 engineers serving customers across India and the Middle East. He brings more than 25 years of cybersecurity experience, with earlier roles at Cisco, FireEye and Tata Communications, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from IIM Ahmedabad.

Mimecast sees significant growth potential across these markets, particularly among small and medium-sized businesses and the mid-market. The company is pursuing that growth through a geo-expansion model, the same approach Raman has used to build regional businesses before.

The Middle East is a key part of that plan. Mimecast’s own research has also found that 69% of security leaders believe an AI-powered attack on their organisation is inevitable within 12 months, but only 40% say they are fully prepared.

Raman’s focus will be on bringing them unified, enterprise-grade protection through the Mimecast platform, delivered by a channel and distribution partner ecosystem with the depth to scale with them.

“Mimecast already has the platform and the reputation. My focus is on making it easier for organisations of every size around the globe, including smaller businesses, to access the platform through local expertise and a strong partner ecosystem. AI is changing the threat landscape, making attacks faster and more convincing, and every market feels that differently. My job is to make sure customers in each one feel Mimecast is built for them,” said Raman.
