DEWA and Fortinet Strengthen Cybersecurity Collaboration

Fortinet announced that its Founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer, Ken Xie, met with His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), to discuss expanding cooperation in cybersecurity and accelerating digital transformation across Dubai and the UAE.

The meeting focused on strengthening cybersecurity resilience for national infrastructure—particularly within the energy and utilities sector—and supporting the UAE’s broader smart city ambitions. Senior DEWA executives, including Marwan Bin Haidar, Executive Vice President of Innovation and the Future; Hussain Lootah, Executive Vice President of Transmission Power; and Mohammed Bin Sulaiman, CEO of Moro Hub, also attended.

During the discussions, HE Al Tayer reaffirmed DEWA’s commitment to the UAE’s digital future and its alignment with both the Dubai Cyber Security Strategy and the National Cyber Security Strategy. He emphasized DEWA’s adoption of world‑class information security standards, agile governance frameworks, and proactive policies designed to anticipate and mitigate emerging cyber risks.

Both sides reviewed the latest advancements in cybersecurity, including AI‑powered threat intelligence and technologies designed to protect increasingly interconnected digital ecosystems. Xie commended DEWA’s leadership in digital transformation and its forward‑looking approach to cybersecurity, expressing Fortinet’s readiness to deepen collaboration.

Fortinet also announced the signing of a long‑term partnership agreement with DEWA during the 27th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX). Under this agreement, DEWA will deploy Fortinet’s integrated Security Fabric platform, providing unified protection across Operational Technology (OT), Information Technology (IT), private cloud, and IoT environments, supported by a Zero Trust security model.

Additionally, DEWA will enhance its Information Security Centre with FortiGuard’s AI‑driven threat intelligence and real‑time analytics, enabling faster detection and response to cyber threats, reducing operational risks, and improving overall performance efficiency.
