Ram Narayanan, Country Manager, Check Point Software Technologies, Middle East, shares his excitement in showcasing their Infinity portfolio of solutions and educating attendees on the current threat landscape at GITEX 2021.
What does your company do and why is it important for you to be exhibiting at GITEX 2021?
Check Point Software Technologies is a leading provider of cyber security solutions to corporate enterprises and governments globally. Check Point Software’s solutions protect customers from 5th generation (Gen V) cyber-attacks with an industry-leading catch rate of malware, ransomware and advanced targeted threats. Check Point Software offers a complete security architecture defending enterprises from networks to mobile devices in addition to the most comprehensive and intuitive security management. We are now confronting the 5th Generation (Gen V) cyber-threat landscape and cyber attackers have become more advanced and complex. Customers are looking for robust security solutions to combat and prevent these increasing threats.
This year’s GITEX provides an opportunity to educate the customers on the importance of having Generation V solutions to battle the current threat landscape and showcase Check Point Software’s products and solutions that provide end-to-end security from enterprise and cloud to mobile workers’ personal devices. Organizations need to recalibrate their cyber security approach to protect their corporate networks and data centers, secure cloud environments and lastly, secure employees wherever they are. GITEX 2021 will also provide the opportunity to network with partners to seek new ways of collaborating to provide solutions to their customers.
What products or solutions will you be exhibiting throughout the weeklong technology show?
Check Point Software Technologies offers a complete security architecture defending enterprises from networks to mobile devices in addition to the most comprehensive and intuitive security management and focuses on providing organizations with the potential to perform their activities with the highest level of security. At the region’s biggest technology event, GITEX Technology Week, Check Point Software will be focusing on its Infinity portfolio of solutions and educating attendees on the current threat landscape. Check Point Infinity portfolio of products focuses on those technologies and capabilities that will provide uncompromised security. Check Point Software has taken over 80 products and technologies and organized them into three main pillars:
- Check Point Harmony protects remote employees, their devices and their internet connectivity from malicious attacks while ensuring secure, remote Zero-Trust access at any scale to any corporate application,
- Check Point Quantum which is the most complete network security solution for every organization, perimeter, and datacenter, encompassing IoT Nano-Security to Terabit super-networks.
- Check Point CloudGuard sets the gold standard for securing critical cloud workloads, both public and private. It offers cloud posture management, serverless security, and a new generation of Web Application Firewalls powered by contextual AI that secures APIs, Web applications as well as hosted and on-premise web servers.
Check Point Software Infinity-Vision is our unified management platform that controls Check Point Software Harmony, Check Point Software CloudGuard and Check Point Software Quantum. Powered by the world’s largest threat intelligence network, Check Point Infinity-Vision centrally manages organizations’ security architectures to mitigate attacks effectively in real-time, close security gaps, and reduce the total cost of ownership. It consolidates the management of multiple security layers, providing superior policy efficiency and enabling teams to manage the security of the entire enterprise through a single pane of glass, spanning networks, cloud, mobile, endpoint, and IoT devices.
Which are the major cybersecurity trends influencing the Middle East?
Today’s security landscape is more complex than ever before. With cyber threats becoming more difficult to determine and amend, having a complete view and understanding of the network can prevent cyberattacks. We are now experiencing a ‘ransomware pandemic’ and see attack after attack dominate headlines. Hackers have gone after businesses across various industries making it one of the biggest security threats we face. Aside from ransomware, we are also seeing an increase in the number of cyberattacks in general such as phishing attacks, spear phishing, man in the middle (MitM) attacks, denial of service or distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks.
According to Check Point Software’s Threat Intelligence report, an organization in the United Arab Emirates is being attacked on average 301 times per week in the last 6 months. Although we are amid the 5th generation (Gen V) of cyberattacks which include large scale, multi-vector mega attacks targeting businesses, individuals, and countries businesses are trying to protect their IT environments against current attacks with traditional security technologies. They are stuck in the world of 2nd and 3rd generation security, which only protects against viruses, application attacks, and payload delivery.
How does your offerings enable organisations to enhance their cybersecurity preparedness in the new normal?
The “new normal” requires organizations to revisit and check the security level and relevance of their network’s infrastructures, processes, compliance of connected mobile and PC devices, IoT etc. The increased use of the cloud means an increased level of security, especially in technologies that secure workloads, containers and serverless applications on multi and hybrid cloud environments. The highest level of visibility, reached through consolidation, will guarantee the best effectiveness. Check Point Software Technologies is making Internet communications and critical data secure, reliable and available everywhere. The focus is on real customer needs and to develop new and innovative security solutions that redefine the security to ensure that they are effectively protecting their assets and data from 5th generation cyber-attacks. Automation is key – it is important to ensure the ease of use and support for automation at every stage of the security and development process. The earlier organizations enable security in the development cycle the more they can reduce the risk and cost of mistakes. We address organizations’ most imminent cyber security needs based on three core principles:
- Prevention-first approach – deploy pre-emptive user protections to eliminate threats before they reach the users.
- Gold Standard Management – a single pane of glass to manage the entire security estate.
- Consolidated Solution – provide complete protection against the most advanced threats while achieving better operational efficiency.
What special engagements or events are you planning to network and entertain with your partners and customers besides meeting them at GITEX Technology Week?
GITEX will be a busy week. Apart from hosting visitors at the booth and showcase our solution highlights, we plan to introduce Demo Point to our channel partners and end customers where they get to explore our Quantum (Network), CloudGuard (Cloud) & Harmony (User and Access) security products. This is a personalized demo and would be coordinated by one of our security experts. They would also be briefed on our range of training and certifications which includes Cyber Range and HackingPoint Courses.
We plan to host in the evening roundtable with executives of strategic end customers & channel partners following up the discussions and activities during GITEX week.
