Trend Micro, announced today that Middle East organizations need to hit the “hybrid groove” in securing hybrid cloud environments to save up to 30 times in costs.
As Middle East organizations follow global trends of 81 percent of organizations using multiple clouds, consistent visibility and security across clouds is vital, especially as the UAE and Saudi Arabia faced among MENA’s highest number of cyber-threats for the first half of 2019.
In the UAE, Trend Micro blocked 13,928,015 email threats, 4,269,043 malicious URLs attempts, and detected 893,908 malware threats, according to Evasive Threats, Pervasive Effects: 2019 Midyear Security Roundup. In Saudi Arabia, Trend Micro blocked 65,175,007 email threats, 2,337,074 malicious URL attempts, and detected 976,508 malware threats.
As a result, MENA’s security spend has grown by 10 percent to USD 1.9 billion in 2019, with cloud security spend increasing 108 percent to USD 9 million, according to Gartner.
“The speed of change in the virtualized data center is unprecedented. As multi-cloud and hybrid usage grows, Middle East CIOs are finding that using legacy security in the data center and cloud does not work, because nobody has a holistic visibility on security and compliance,” said Bilal Baig, Technical Director – MENA, Trend Micro. “As MENA faces unprecedented cyber-threats, organizations need to move from ‘cloud chaos’ to ‘hybrid groove’ by automating and security. CIOs that implement security from the planning phase can find massive savings.”
One of the biggest business benefits of cloud security is that organizations that implement security in the DevOps and application planning process can find 30 times lower costs in resolving threats and risk, compared to deploying security at the run time, according to NIST.
“Cloud security is a shared responsibility,” added Bilal Baig “Cloud providers need to secure their cloud infrastructure, and customers need to secure their operating system, apps, and data, as well as meeting compliance regulations for their servers, workloads, and endpoints.”
At the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit, Trend Micro will present how organizations can secure physical, virtual, cloud, and container environments with its XDR detection and response solution for email, endpoint, server, and network security, and Deep Security for cloud and data center security. Trend Micro effectively delivers on all eight of Gartner’s 2019 market guide for cloud workload protection platforms.
Visit Trend Micro, exhibiting under “The Art of Cybersecurity,” at the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit from 28-29 October 2019 at the Conrad Dubai. Bilal Baig will present “The Art of Cybersecurity in the Cloud” on Tuesday, 29 October at 12:30 pm.
