GIG Gulf, a leading insurer in the MENA region, has launched a groundbreaking home insurance product in the UAE. This policy is the country’s first to include cyber-fraud protection as a standard feature. This market-first innovation extends coverage beyond physical property, offering families critical protection against the growing threat of online scams and digital attacks.
The newly introduced Cyber Comfort cover addresses a wide range of cyber risks, including phishing, identity theft, online shopping fraud, and ransomware. Every member of the household is covered under the policy, and GIG Gulf provides 24/7 access to a dedicated cyber resolution team to support policyholders in the event of a breach. This multi-layered defense reflects the company’s proactive stance amid a global rise in cybercrime, offering peace of mind as digital risks escalate alongside the growth of connected living.
The timing of this launch is particularly significant as the UAE accelerates efforts to protect its residents and businesses in the face of increasing cyber threats. With more homes becoming digitally integrated, traditional insurance models are evolving. GIG Gulf’s inclusion of cyber protection represents a bold move to align personal insurance with the realities of modern life.
Franck Heimburger, Chief Personal Lines Officer at GIG Gulf, emphasized the importance of this advancement: “Today, our homes are more connected than ever, and with that connectivity comes new risks. By embedding cyber protection into our home insurance, we’re taking a bold step to meet the evolving needs of our customers. It’s not just about insuring what’s inside your home anymore – it’s about securing the digital lives of the people who live in it.”
Available from March 2025 on all new and renewing UAE home insurance policies, the cyber cover is also expected to roll out across additional markets and product lines. With this initiative, GIG Gulf continues to set new standards for innovation, blending technology, practical protection, and responsive support to meet the demands of an increasingly digital world.
