Cato Networks recently announced that it has been named a “Leader” in the 2024 GigaOm Radar for Enterprise Firewalls. Cato is the only pure-play SASE platform provider identified as a “Leader” in the report.
“Being named a leader in this report is a testament to the robustness and maturity of our solution—enabling enterprises large and small to let go of their legacy firewall appliances and manage networking and security all in one converged, cloud-native platform,” said Eyal Webber-Zvik, Vice President of Product Marketing and Strategic Alliances at Cato Networks.
The Cloud: The Firewall Form Factor for a New Generation
For years, firewalls have been the staple of enterprise security, determining which connections to allow within and through the enterprise perimeter. But as the perimeter has dissolved with applications moving to the cloud and the users working remotely, the firewall form factor has also had to change. Cato’s FWaaS offered as part of Cato SASE Cloud addresses these challenges, delivering the stopping power of next-generation firewalls in a cloud form factor, protecting not only sites but also cloud resources, and remote users.
In its latest report, GigaOm not only acknowledges the robustness of the Cato firewall, listing Cato as a Leader among the most established firewall providers, but also its innovation, identifying Cato Networks as a “Fast Mover” in the Innovation/Platform Play. GigaOm notes Cato’s strength includes DNS security and comprehensive protection, comprehensive zero-trust networking capabilities, and strong central policy management. In a head-to-head comparison of key features, Cato Networks outperforms most other solutions.
“Cato offers a very strong SASE-based solution that scored well across most of our decision criteria,” according to GigaOm analyst Paul Stringfellow. “For those wanting to migrate to SASE, Cato’s firewall-as-a-service (FWaaS) is a good starting place; once adopted, the addition of further services will be low friction. It’s also well-suited for companies that are replacing traditional WAN technologies.”
