Which are the major cybersecuity trends influencing the Middle East?
The last couple of years have been far from ordinary, both for cybersecurity and business in general. Every year, certain threats grow rapidly as cybercriminals focus their efforts on a particularly effective or lucrative attack technique, such as ransomware or cryptojacking. According to Check Point Software’s Threat Intelligence report an organization in Middle East is being attacked on average 1413 times per week in the last 6 months, compared to 1152 attacks per organization globally. However, one of the most worrying trends in 2022 is the growth of cybercrime across the board becoming firmly entrenched as a state-level weapon, including the new ransomware method of ‘Country Extortion’, state-affiliated hacktivism, and the expansion of ransomware as the number one threat.
2022 began with a massive exploitation of one of the most serious vulnerabilities on the internet, the Apache log4j, and continued with a full blown cyber warfare from the Russia-Ukraine war. Check Point Research (CPR) reported that the second quarter of 2022 saw an all-time peak of 1.2K attacks per organization globally, a 32% increase compared to Q2 2021, whereas UAE observed an average of 970 weekly attacks per organization in Q2 2022, a massive 178% increase year-over-year.
How does your offerings enable organisations to enhance their cybersecurity preparedness in the new normal?
The “new normal” requires organizations to revisit and check the security level and relevance of their network’s infrastructures, processes, compliance of connected mobile and PC devices, IoT etc. The increased use of the cloud means an increased level of security, especially in technologies that secure workloads, containers and serverless applications on multi and hybrid cloud environments. The highest level of visibility, reached through consolidation, will guarantee the best effectiveness. Check Point Software Technologies is making Internet communications and critical data secure, reliable and available everywhere. Automation is key – it is important to ensure the ease of use and support for automation at every stage of the security and development process. We address organizations’ most imminent cyber security needs based on three core principles:
1. Prevention-first approach – deploy pre-emptive user protections to eliminate threats before they reach the users.
2. Gold Standard Management – single pane of glass to manage the entire security estate.
3. Consolidated Solution – provide complete protection against the most advanced threats while achieving better operational efficiency.
What message would you like to give to the customers visiting the show and why should they meet you?
Check Point Software aims to provide any organization with the ability to conduct its business on the internet with the highest level of security. This year’s GITEX provides an opportunity to educate the customers on the importance of having Gen V solutions to battle the current threat landscape and showcase Check Point Software’s products and solutions that provide end-to-end security from the enterprise to the cloud, to mobile workers’ personal devices.
We will be hosting visitors at the booth and showcasing our solution highlights
