Mareva Koulamallah, Head of Marketing and Communications Middle East & Africa, Acronis, talks to Security MEA and explains that the company will display a diverse portfolio of products and also they have introduces a surprise element for the visitors at the show.
What does your company do and why is it important for you to be exhibiting at GITEX 2021?
Acronis is a global leader in cyber protection. We unify data protection and cybersecurity to deliver integrated, automated cyber protection that solves the Safety, Accessibility, Privacy, Authenticity, and Security (SAPAS) challenges of the modern digital world.
The shift to everything online created by the pandemic along with the continuous advancements in technology has greatly increased the risks of multidimensional cyberattacks. To help organisations and individuals cope with these higher cyber risks, we are showcasing our whole portfolio, highlighting the only product on the market which unites backup and next-generation, AI-based anti-malware, antivirus, and endpoint protection management in one solution: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud. The world needs the latest in cyber security technology and GITEX is an amazing opportunity to display what we have to offer in that space.
What products or solutions will you be exhibiting throughout the weeklong technology show?
To deliver thorough protection for its partners’ clients, Acronis’ vision and products are based on a multi-stage process rather than simply detecting and blocking threats, leaving other risks uncovered.
During the event, the Acronis team will be showcasing its diverse portfolio of products focusing on Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud, which has been named by the analysts from IDC as “the most comprehensive attempt to provide data protection and cyber security to date”. Another important point is that we will be present at the event with a surprise for the visitors thanks to one of our amazing sports partners.
Which are the major cybersecurity trends influencing the Middle East?
The Middle East region is an ideal space for technology and innovation to flourish. However, it makes it all the more attractive to criminals. In recent months, the number of data breaches, ransomware and phishing have been on the rise. Between May 2020 and March 2021, the Middle East region alone lost a whopping US$6.93 million in data breaches.
Over the same period, the region was reported to have fallen victim to phishing, losing well over US$2.57 million. At the same time that cyber security is put on the map more and more by the local government and experts in the region who are both taking a lot of great initiatives, cybercriminals are getting better and are well aware of the “financial potential” of the region so threats are still rising. Cyber protection should no longer be an option but a must, for both individuals and organisations, no matter the size.
How does your offerings enable organisations to enhance their cybersecurity preparedness in the new normal?
Our products enable organisations to have pre-emptive measures in place, to stay alert on growing cyber-attacks, phishing scams and privacy breaches. Similar to the coronavirus that continues to spread as a potentially lethal pathogen, phishing scams and viruses are spreading as scammers have come out to take advantage of the situation and the lack of readiness.
Also, using different solutions for data protection and cybersecurity creates complexity and broadens the threat vectors. Our strategy is channel-centric and we empower our distributors and their partners. We are enabling Managed Service Providers to better serve clients. MSPs that offer services built on are more efficient and make more money while lowering their clients’ cybersecurity risk.
What special engagements or events are you planning to network and entertain with your partners and customers besides meeting them at GITEX Technology Week?
We invite our audience of channel partners to meet with our entire team, directly in person during our Acronis #CyberFit Summit Dubai on December 8 & 9 and discover more about how our solutions can help keep their business cyber protected while driving revenue as well. As the premier event series dedicated to enhancing MSP business’ cyber protection capabilities, we will have the top channel, cybersecurity, and industry experts from across the globe involved.
What does your company hope to achieve at the end of the show?
We expect to get a lot of inquiries from this year’s visitors on various cybersecurity concerns as threats keep on evolving, even as organizations are more and more prepared and settle down to the new normal. We hope to meet with our existing partners, of course, to hear from them directly, and we will also focus on growing our channel by onboarding new partners.
