The Abu Dhabi Healthcare Information Security Strategy was released by the Department of Health in Abu Dhabi (DoH). The plan will serve as a framework for defining the key concepts that will drive Abu Dhabi’s holistic approach to improving the healthcare sector’s ability to safeguard and effectively manage cyber threats.
DoH is the first body in the region to create a healthcare plan of this nature. It’s part of a larger effort to improve the healthcare sector’s information infrastructure.
While remaining focused on digital transformation through enabling technology, innovation, and AI adoption in the emirate’s healthcare sector, the new strategy will help to put in place a cohesive and proactive response framework to meet current and future healthcare cybersecurity challenges for the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
Cybersecurity governance, cybersecurity resilience, cybersecurity capabilities, cybersecurity partnerships, cybersecurity maturity, and cybersecurity innovation will all be part of the plan. All healthcare institutions in the emirate, including healthcare practitioners, insurance providers, service providers, suppliers, and authorised parties that have access to, manage, process, or store patients’ healthcare data, would be required to comply with the strategy immediately. The cybersecurity activities in the healthcare sector will be aligned with the national agenda as a result of the plan.
