Saudi Arabia ranks No. 2 globally in its commitment to cybersecurity

Saudi Arabia has risen 11 places from last year to take second position in the world among countries committed to cybersecurity. The results were announced by the Global Cybersecurity Index 2020, a reliable reference that measures the commitment of its 193 members to cybersecurity.

In the ranking compiled, researched, and published by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized agency of the United Nations, the Kingdom also placed first in the Arab world, the Middle East, and Asia. Saudi Arabia has risen significantly in the rankings since the unveiling of Vision 2030 in 2017, when it was placed 46th in the globe.

Saudi Arabia’s National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA) praised the Kingdom’s leadership for their continuing support in implementing measures to make cybersecurity more robust in a statement.

According to the authorities, cybersecurity has a wide range of applications. The legal, technical, organizational, capacity development, and collaboration pillars are used to evaluate each country’s level of development or engagement. The presence of a specific reference body for cybersecurity was one of the primary elements that boosted the country’s ranking, according to the NCA, and one of the main factors that boosted the country’s ranking was the presence of a specialized reference body for cybersecurity.
